Every lodge is a little different and every lodge is unique. So before joining any lodge, it makes sense to know a little about its background, reputation, culture and members.

We are a well-established London lodge with exciting plans to provide a masonic experience that's fit for today's Freemasons. In addition to 4 main meetings each year (see below), we hold regular Lodges of Instruction (LOIs) at the impressive Freemasons Hall, online talks, guest nights and informal socials.

We're especially proud of the friendliness of our welcome and the quality of our ritual. Our LOIs help new members progress smoothly through the 3 craft degrees, with plenty of support along the way. Our series of lodge lectures provide a fascinating glimpse into what’s behind our rituals and history. And our socials are a great chance to socialise with friends and family.

We have exciting plans for the future. If you'd like to find out more, be part of our journey - and have some fun along the way, please get in touch.

Meetings and Festive Boards

Our 4 main meetings take place in November, January, March and May at Freemason’s Hall in central London. They start around 4pm and finish around 6.30pm. In November we ‘install’ the new Lodge ‘Master’ for the year and his supporting Officers. At our remaining 3 meetings we perform masonic ‘ritual’ – essentially allegorical stories relevant to the different ‘degrees’ in Freemasonry.

And once the Lodge has been closed for the evening we hold our ‘Festive Board’ – a fun, semi-formal dinner with occasional toasts, speeches and lots of friendly chat.

Lodges of Instruction

Our allegorical stories (ritual) are ‘performed’ at Lodge meetings from memory – and that takes quite a lot of learning! To help us learn that ritual and to practice for our meetings, we hold regular ‘Lodges of Instruction’. These take place on Thursday evenings at Freemasons Hall (7.30pm to 9pm). They are fun, informal sessions that not only help us learn, but to bond as a group with a shared interest.

LOI’s are not mandatory, but the more you attend the quicker you learn about the craft – and the quicker you make new friends.

Charity

People often ask what Freemasons do? At it's heart, Freemasonry is about supporting people less fortunate than ourselves in any walk of life. What we do is to donate millions of pounds every year to charity.

We are second only to the National Lottery in what we donate to charity in the UK.

Every Freemason is expected to do their part in support the Lodge's chosen charities, but only within the limits of what's affordable to you, without detriment to yourself or your connections.

Online talks and guest nights

When face-to-face meetings were suspended in March 2020, the Lodge started virtual weekly ‘Zoom’ calls instead. These proved very popular, and we curated a series of lectures and guest speakers to keep members entertained and informed.

One benefit of these virtual meetings is that they allow members who cannot travel to London to stay in touch. We have therefore continued with occasional talks – and members and guests are welcome to log on.

Sometimes our talks are about Freemasonry, sometimes they are of general interest, but they are always entertaining!

Socials

Freemasonry should always be fun – and there is a large social element to being a Freemason. We nearly always enjoy a drink and a chat after our LOI’s.

We also hold 2 or 3 social events each year. These range from summer lunches for members, families and friends, to nights out on the town at Christmas. Our most recent event was a visit to the Chinnor to Princes Risborough steam railway, followed by afternoon tea.
